Mallard: The world's fastest steam locomotive

Mallard — the engine still exists and is at the National Railway Museum in York at the moment, but it cannot run on the railway any more (although some of it's sisters can) — is still the world's fastest steam locomotive. It set the record in 1938: 126 miles / hour (203km / hour).

I'm not sure if I ever travelled on one of the Mallard-class trains, but I *did* travel on steam trains when I was a young boy. It was probably when the family travelled to the seaside.

Did I mention that I really like steam trains?
