Maybe yes, maybe no, but who cares? It’s a marvellous piece, and hundreds of people are visiting & using the telephone box to call their friends.

Within days of it appearing, someone had defaced it. Banksy has now stated that yes, it was his work.

Now, the landlord of the house that it is on--which is who owns it--has called in scaffolders to “fix some bad plasterwork” so that the “safety of the public can be assured” (whenever you hear folks say those kind of things, you know that they are lying to your face). Sure enough, later the Scaffolders--who work for an art gallery--said that they had bought the artwork from the Landlord. The whole thing could perhaps fetch £1,000,000 GBP Sterling.

The locals do not want it to go (in spite of the defacing). A chap (illegally) parked a large, white van very close to the woodwork, blocking the telephone box. Eventually, that was towed away. Sadly, after the scaffolding was put in place last Wednesday (25 June), the scaffolding company has said that the artwork would be gone by next Tuesday (July 1).
