The above is really similar to the photo in the email I posted on 15 September 2014. The other photo was taken with the comet 50 km away. In this one the comet is only 16 km distant (they are also much loser to the sun, and you can see the jets that are beginning to come out of the comet as it heats up).

You will recall that ‘Rosetta’ is a mission of the European Space Agency which planned 20 years ago to land a lander (‘Philae’) on a comet (‘67P’). It is a camera on Philae that took the picture above. The ESA scientists have now decided on the place to land (site J). They will do that on November 12. Here is a photo of the site (this image is about 1km square):
