This is just too good a story about the English; if it did not exist, you would have to make it up.
Julie Lawrence’s son had a birthday shortly before Christmas. She decided to put on a party for her son’s friends at the Plymouth Ski and Snowboard Centre.
Derek Nash’s son Alex, of Torpoint, Cornwall, was invited to the Party of the First Part’s Party but, after agreeing to turn up, did not do so (he was “due to spend time with his grandparents” and it conflicted, but he went to his grandma’s anyway).
3. i) The Party of the Second Part (P2P) claimed that they did not have contact details for the Party of the First Part (P1P), so could not tell them of their son’s no-show at the party
3. ii) The P1P said that full contact details were on the Party Invitation.
4. i) On Thursday 15 January the P1P gave an Invoice (for £15.95 GBP, pictured above) in a sealed brown envelope to the P2P’s teacher & asked her to give it to the P2P
4. ii) P2P’s teacher could not find P2P, so put the Invoice into P2P’s school-bag
4. iii) P2P’s mother did not find the Invoice until at home, when she informed P2P’s father
4. iv) P2P’s father returned to the school & informed the School Secretary (SS) what had happened, but she was not impressed
4. v) P2P’s father then went to P1P’s house & informed P1P’s mother that Hell would freeze over before he would pay this invoice
4. vi) P1P’s mother then informed P2P’s father that, in that case, she would take him to the small claims court
5. In a later statement, the Plymouth Ski and Snowboard Centre said “this is nothing to do with us, guv”
