You will, of course, remember my recent (2 Sep) mail on the discovery of the outsized-sheep (who has been named) ‘Chris’. Well, it took 5 men to shear him, and Chris now holds the record for most wool from a sheep.

Chris the sheep on his back as Australian shearers remove wool which has apparently broken a world record
Ian Elkins begins removing more than 40kg (88lb) of wool (the heaviest wool haul ever from one shearing)

Poor old Chris had to be sedated for the job.

In 2004, Shrek the New Zealand sheep was found after six years on the loose, and had a 27kg (60lb) fleece removed. That's nothing! Chris the Ozzie merino's fleece weighed in at 40kg (88lb). I suspect that we shall not see another like it very soon.
