ITV began 60 years ago, which means that TV adverts began 60 years ago (only the BBC had a licence to broadcast in the UK before that time, and they did not have any paid advertisements).

To celebrate it, the link above is 2m 43s of some of the nation’s favourite ads (nostalgia for me & possibly Davin, but unlikely for anyone else).

I used to sell magazine-space ads in the 1980’s & really got into it, subscribing to specialist mags that often included a (very thin) plastic disc with radio ads on it. I also began to collect TV ads when the Internet got going & have a large store of them.
